The 10 Best Security Companies in San Jose (2026)
San Jose’s mix of downtown offices, shopping districts and residential neighborhoods creates a steady demand for professional security guard services. This ranking, updated for 2026, is built from Google reviews using a Bayesian score — an average rating weighted by review volume — to balance high ratings with review counts. We focused on businesses listed in the security guard service category on Google and ordered them to reflect both score and reviewer confidence. Use this list as a starting point when comparing local firms, and follow up with direct calls to confirm services, availability and licensing for your specific needs.
This ranking is computed from Google reviews (our method). Listings marked Partner are paid advertising spots: they sit alongside the ranking without changing its order.

Frequently asked questions
How should I choose a security company for my property or event?
Start by defining the service you need (armed vs. unarmed guards, mobile patrols, event coverage). Then compare licenses, insurance, training standards, references and written contracts. Ask about supervision, reporting practices and how they vet and train guards to ensure a proper match for your risk profile.
What should I check before hiring a security guard service?
Verify the company’s business license and proof of liability insurance, and request copies of guards’ certifications or training records. Also check references, confirm contract terms (hours, duties, termination clauses) and ask how incidents are reported and escalated.
How was this ranking of security companies compiled?
This list was built from Google reviews and updated for 2026, using a Bayesian score that weights average rating by number of reviews to balance high ratings against review volume. Only businesses listed in Google’s security guard service category were considered, and entries were ordered to reflect both score and reviewer confidence.
When should I call a security guard service?
Consider hiring guards for public events, regular patrols of commercial property, overnight or vacancy watches, or when you need a visible deterrent after repeat incidents. If you’re unsure, discuss your concerns with providers and check local police non-emergency guidance for additional safety recommendations.
