The 10 Best Tennis Clubs in San Jose (2026)

Frequently asked questions
How should I choose between a tennis club, a public court, or a private academy?
Decide based on your goals: casual play and low cost often point to public courts, structured lessons and competition readiness lean toward academies, while clubs can offer social play and organized programming. Consider location, available court surfaces, coaching staff credentials, and membership or booking requirements before committing.
What should I check before signing up for lessons or a membership?
Ask about lesson formats (group vs. private), coach qualifications, cancellation and refund policies, and whether courts are indoor or outdoor. Also verify hours of operation, peak times, and any equipment or membership fees so there are no surprises.
When is the best time to call or visit a tennis facility?
Call during weekday business hours to reach management or coaching staff, and visit during drop-in times or less busy periods to see court conditions and programs. If you plan lessons, contact the facility well ahead of the season or school term to reserve spots.
How was this ranking created and what does the score reflect?
The ranking is based on Google review data, using a weighted (Bayesian-style) approach that combines each listing’s average rating with its number of reviews. That method reduces the impact of very small sample sizes while recognizing consistently high ratings from many reviewers.
